U.S. National flag and Suzuka Circuit Race Queens.
TOKYO -RIJ- (March 8, 1996) The NASCAR SUZUKA THUNDER SPECIAL 100, first NASCAR race in Japan will start on November 22-24, 1996 at Suzuka Circuit, the home of Japanese motor sports, including Formula One Japanese Grand Prix, International GT series The Suzuka 1000km Race, FIM Motorcycle road race World Championship Japanese Grand Prix and Motorcycle's Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race.
The NASCAR Suzuka Thunder Special 100 will be two heat race (50 laps X 2) at 1.40 miles (2.24 km) East Course of Suzuka. It will be Invert Race, winner of first heat will start from tale end, as well as NASCAR Winston Select Race. Qualify will be three timed laps, including one tire change lap with warm-up and cool down laps (total five laps). It will be same with the Winston Select, too. Qualify session will be held on Saturday and Race will be held on Sunday. Friday will be Practice.
Thirty drivers are listed on the latest entry list on March 8. Twenty NASCAR Winston Cup drivers and ten NASCAR Winston West, Craftsman Super Truck, Grand National drivers are shown on the list.
Suzuka's traditional corners' names will be changed to American style when NASCAR Suzuka Thunder Special 100 will be running at Suzuka. (First Corner => First Turn, Second Corner => Second Turn, S (ese)-Corner - Final Corner => S-Turn => Final Turn, Main Straight => Thunder Straight.) Chane is not included in East Course of Suzuka.
